Happy 4th of July everyone! I always enjoy this holiday, there’s BBQ, pool time and fireworks! But if that wasn’t exciting enough, this year is even better because a dear friend of mine had her first baby today!!! (Talk about a great day for b-day parties! Plus you are guaranteed a day off on your b-day (unless you work in pyrotechnics or are a firefighter!!!)
Now friends having babies is nothing new to me. It has been a long time joke that if you want to get pregnant, just hang out with me for a few hours. There were times when I literally had to keep a list so that I could remember who was currently pregnant. My highest ever at any one time? 28 pregnant friends. It was insanity!!!! (Especially when you are trying to get pregnant, but can’t!!!) But this one is different. This is someone I have known for more than half my life and it’s SO COOL to me that she is a mom!!! (And I get to be the crazy”Auntie”, you know the one who isn’t really family, but she’s at every function and the kids call her Auntie Tara anyway. This means I get to carry life savers and gum at all times!)
While I was uploading some pictures for the Grandparents to see, I checked out the infant pics from when Jack was born (ALMOST 6 MONTHS AGO!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!!). Now I don’t know if it’s because I know he is my last baby, or if time just moves faster with two, but I was feeling very nostalgic and a little weepy that my baby is growing so fast. I feel like his tiny baby days went so much faster than Anthony’s did. How has half a year slipped by so quickly?
When Anthony was in school all day, Jack and I had a lot of time for cuddles. Now we are constantly on the go and I miss that time with him each day. As much as I love watching him develop and learn new things each day, I hate knowing that he’ll be a big guy in the blink of an eye.
Clearly I have no problem sharing my opinion, but I don’t want to overwhelm my friend on her first day in Mommy land, but if you are reading this (and you know who you are!!) …. hold that sweet baby as close as you can and try to enjoy as many seconds of it as possible! Before you know it he’ll be ready to head into first grade!!!
