You invited me to a Picnik? But we hardly know each other!
It’s that time again….. GUEST BLOGGER TIME!!! WOOT WOOT!!! This week we have a special guest, she’s a tech goddess, she’s a marketing maniac, she’s running two successful businesses dedicated to helping other business owners, while raising two fantastic kids, she’s Kelly from Directly Successful! (cheers!)
A quick thanks to Tara for inviting me to be a guest blogger here, I’m so thrilled!!! I promise to clean up and lock the door when I leave!
I don’t know about you guys (gals), but after reading Jen’s post about taking pictures I was totally inspired! If you haven’t read it yet, go here, but come back because I have a techie tip to go along with all those awesome photographs you are going to be making! It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s FANTASTIC!
If you have heard of Picnik.com and are using their site, then you will comment about how great it is! If not, let me tell you a little about this awesome site for playing around with your photos, editing and adding super FUN text and embellishments.
Before I dive in with the screen shots I want to mention that this site is FREE and requires NO login or set up! How awesome is that? You can dive right in and test it out, then decide if you want to register so the site will save your latest images.
You can upgrade to the pro version if you want more fonts and embellishments. For now, just try out the free version and get going!
1. Take a bunch of amazing shots using Jen’s tips and tricks!
2. Go to Picnik.com
3. Choose a photo to upload and simply click the upload now
4. Let the FUN begin!
EDIT Your Photos
This is the first page where you can crop, rotate,re-size, correct red eye, etc…. this page is basically the place to make your photo PERFECT before you begin embellishing it.
The screen shot is of the Re-Size page. This is a super handy tool for those times when you are trying to email, post, or load a photo, but you get a message that the image is too big. A few clicks of
the mouse and your picture is still in proportion, but is smaller in size! Shazam!!! You have a smaller photo, no distortion and you are a rockstar!
(Please note, in the re-size photo I used the percentage option and took the photo from 100% down to 25%.)
If you are a smarty and are jumping ahead you may have your wheels turning for making
pictures BIGGER with this tool. YOU are amazing!!! Yes, YES, YES you can enlarge a photo, make it specific proportions and come out smelling like a rose. 🙂
This is the tab where all the fun begins! Text, stickers, borders and effects!!
When you choose a sticker, the program will slap it right on top of your photo…usually NOT in the place you want it. Don’t start sweating, just use the mouse to drag the sticker where you want it! Easy, Breezy!
By now you have noticed the simple slide tools to the right. These allow you to quickly make things bigger and smaller. Use them to save time, then the mouse to make adjustments.
If you are still reading and have not abandoned this post to go make your OWN fun at Picnik, I am very impressed and THANKFUL! For YOU, lucky reader, I have held on to one of my favorite tips!!
If you are a blogger or in business for yourself you may very well want to place a watermark over your photos. This not only discourages someone from stealing your images, but also serves to advertise
your business or blog. Are you wanting to HUG me yet?! I have a zillion marketing ideas for this little gem, so come find me at fb.com/directlysuccessful for more as well as my latest 5 minute tutorial for ANOTHER FREE SERVICE that will host all these photos FOR you….but I digress!
Kelly, get back to the WATERMARKS!
In order to place text on top of your photo all you do is click the text tab and type your words into the text box on the upper left. Select your font preference (please keep in mind the ones that say “Premium” will cost you an upgrade). There are plenty of free options, check them out before you go grabbing your credit card!
Notice, I took a photo from Tara’s blog and put words over it! Does this impress anyone besides myself?! Tara might be wondering how I got her photography…Picnik makes it SUPER SIMPLE to rip off photos, I mean borrow photos from all over the web!
Notice, all I did was enter in the url for Tara’s blog and it pulled all of her images up for me…I’m a sneaky one!
One last screen shot and I am sending you off to make your OWN master pieces!
For this one I used the BORDER option to make the frame, then selected Black & White from the effects tab, then I used the little paint brush option to fill back in some color!!
Let Tara, Jen and I know how in the comments you will use our tips to make your PHOTOS absolutely REMARKABLE!!
P.S. I didn’t even scratch the surface on this tool, but will be featuring it in a How to Video over on my Facebook page Directly Successful… it will target how to use Picnik for small businesses and direct sales!! Hope to see you there!
I love this! What a cool tool for keeping memories!! Thanks so much Kelly. Friends, please check out Kelly’s page, ESPECIALLY if you are a small business owner. She has all the techniques you need to take your business to the next level!!! Hope you all had a great holiday weekend and let us know how you are improving your pics!!!
